Summer is an excellent time for students to enhance their academic skills and practice for retention. Summer is also a perfect opportunity for middle school students to prepare for their transition into high school.
The summer program at Westview offers a variety of coursework, focusing mainly on the essential subjects of English and math, with additional course offerings geared toward developing study skills and executive functioning.
However, Westview tries to achieve a balance between intensive academic work and enrichment, giving students an opportunity to explore the arts, such as music and film making, or to pursue individual interests through classes such as our basketball clinic, driver’s education, SAT prep or CAHSEE prep.
Summer classes maintain Westview’s small student-to-teacher ratio, allowing teachers to individualize their instruction and meet each student’s learning needs.
All components of the regular school program, such as counseling and door-to-door-to-door transportation, continue during the summer session.
